Well this is just a curiosity question more than anything else….. you go into your Dr’s office, or the Emergency Room (which is where I was tonight in which I observed this again and finally had to ask) and you look at the receptacles and you often see a little colored dot on each one (i.e. each duplex). Seems I only ever see this in “commercial-like” construction and wondered…..is there a purpose? What is it for?
The logical side of me says it’s to identify at a glance the specific circuit that receptacle is on…as in color coded circuits. Am I right?
