Composite decking hidden fasteners
Second question concerning the gazebo in my previous post. I’ve been using the DeckMaster hidden fastening system until now. It works well when one has easy access beneath but is a pain if you don’t. I’d like to find a system that can be done from above and works well with 5/4″ Trex. Thanks again.

I have the same question, but for Ipe intead of Trex. I suppose the answer may be the same, regardless of lumber choice?

Look into the Eb-Ty system.
If you can't find it locally, go to McFeely's website.
Politics is the antithesis of problem solving.
I have been using Ipe clips for some time. They are a plastic disk with a short log on the bottom and a hole in the center. A slot is cut in the edge of the deck board with a bisket jointer over the joist, the clip is inserted, and screwed in with a stainless steel screw at about 45* angle. The next deck board has a cooresponding slot which accepts the other edge of the disk, so that one disk holds the edges of two adjacent boards. There are some brands of decking that come the groove already plowed along the entire edge of the deck board. With this system the only screws that show on the surface are on the first, and last rows, and makes a nice lookeing application.
Check out deckfasteners.com for the tiger claw system they have pointed prongs on them that you would drive in then screw to the joist, as well as many other fastener variations.
Good Luck,
John
