I did a search and didn’t find the information I was looking for.
I’m looking to purchase an electric “wheelbarrow” type compressor and think I have narrowed my choices down to the Dewalt D55580 2HP 8gal or the Hitachi EC189 1.5HP 8gal. Any input on either one (i.e. reliability, noise, etc.) would be appreciated. I will be running a few framing nailers with it.

Hey J,
I've owned the Hitatchi and it does OK....we had a lot of problems with whatever part (can't remember the name) that controls when it cuts in/off and having it run idle continuously without ever building pressure. It took several tries to get it fixed. Apparently it has a setting on the controller where the motor runs full-time instead of starting/stopping but only builds pressure as needed--kinda like the cycling of a gas compressor.
The DW/Emglo I can't comment on....I've been looking for the same kind of compressor myself...I know Ingersoll-Rand, Thomas, Jenny, and Ridgid all make similar models to the ones you list. Personally I'm thinking seriously about the Ridgid.
Good luck, and keep us informed...I'll do the same!Jason Pharez Construction

Have you considered the Rol-Air? Many consider these to be the best.

I can't comment directly on either, but my Dewalt has had cold start issues..although it isn't the same model.
Thomas, and Rolaire have great reps. As does The Max, but i don't think they have one in your model range.
