on the outer banks of nc we build on pilings off of the ground. we dont use a lot of concrete here. pilings are 8″x8″ square . in the ground anywhere from 8′ to 20″ feet in the ground. most homes 7′ plus above the ground. so people usually park under them. and this where the concrete comes in. the concrete guys go around all piles with the conc touching them all.
my question is, even though all piles are treated lumber, should the concrete be touching these piles. i feel that its just a place forwater to stay and to eventually rot the piles.
any input would be of great help.
thanks

they will not rot do to the concrete but the house will have movement and the movement will crack the concrete.
Ummmm... you really expect the houses to last long enough to worry about wood rot?
