tsp and hot water, let it soak.
Before you try the TSP, you might see if something like kitty litter would soak up the excess--sprinkle it on and scuff it in so it makes contact well, then sweep it off after several hours, then the TSP. Just a thought--I haven't actually tried it.
Thanks for the help, but I'm having a blonde moment.
What is TSP? Ive already used litter to get most of it off.
Tri Sodium Phosphate.
You can usually find it at paint supply outlets.
Its at Lowes too, in the paint dept, by the mineral spirit. The container here is a white plastic with three bright colors on it like pink, green, yellow. you can see it from fifty feet.
Like others said, TSP is trisodium phosphate, but in some places it is no longer sold (maybe even in Michigan, where I live) because it is bad for the environment--gets into the waterways and causes algal blooms and then the algae dies and causes the lakes to lose oxygen. Instead there is a substitute that is near paint and thinner and other painting suplies. I think they cal it something creative like "TSP substitute".
