Concrete Cost for what I’m getting….
What is the Current Concrete cost per square foot in your area?
I’m getting bids for a 24’X32′ slab. The 2-story building is actually 16’X32′, plus a 1-1/2″ down set for an outside front 8′ X 32′ porch.
Currrent bids are for a 10″ wide perimeter footing with four runs of 1/2″ rebar, a 10″X 16′ beam footing across the center, and remaining field is 3/8″ rebar set on 18″ centers. 1/2″ J-bolts, set 12″ from corners and on 6′ centers. One 1-1/2″ electrical conduit sweep for power to the breaker box.
Both bids have been $4.50 sq.ft. for 5-sack concrete with a moisture barrier additive here in North Central Texas.
Good or Bad for this bid????
Thanks your help,
Bill

that really not bad $4608. half of that is material. around here its $2.50 sq ft and you buy material.
Brown...,
Actually the total bid is $3,456.00. So, you think that's a good cost for the amount of sq. footage and steel?

If the work is done properly using good quality materials, then $4.50 / sf is not bad at all.
Most guys around here are getting about $5.00 per square foot on the smaller projects like that, on something bigger it drops to $4.25 - $4.50 so I'd say that you are getting a reasonable deal.
Around her (PNW) concrete costs alone are so high now that even DIY (all prep and grading work, finish etc) with 'free' steel is about $1.20 sq ft.
When younger it took 10 hours for 400 sq ft working alone. Couldn't do even a 9 yard load now before it started to set.
Figure from there based on your age and capabilities.
Either put out the effort or the the cash.
PS: I see I replied to just your 3rd post, welcome. If you are in your 20's, you could DIY for about $1.50 sq ft. and thus make good bucks for yourself while learning (the learning part is worth more than the savings) , but if over 60 like me, you probably have a good deal.
