I am working on a house renovation with a new to me condition.
The house is about 100 years old. At some point someone poured concrete curbs at the top of the stone foundation. On one side, the ground outside is about 6″ above the level of the interior floor. The ground level can’t be changed–on someone else’s property.
So I am working on how to improve the drywall on the inside–but am concerned about putting it up against the concrete curb. It seems like asking for moisture problems.
Ideas I have had so far include using shallow blocking to hold the drywall 1/2″ or so off of the curb and the existing 2×4 wall. Or possibly using a layer of rubber between the drywall and the curb.
Anyone encountered this? Any ideas?

My thought would be...
A 12" plastic vapor barrier stapled to the studs and draped down to the floor over the concrete curb. Then some thin batton strips on top of that to give the iar gap you talked about. Then some moisture resistant drywall - just to make sure - it is only a few $ more.... Or - the plastic vapor barrier could even go all the way up to the top plate, depending on what the climate is, what you are trying to accomplish, etc...
Yeah, you want to hold the drywall away from the masonry a half inch or so, and some sort of vapor/moisture barrier wouldn't hurt either.
thanks
Thanks guys,
Good to know that this is doable and to get two opinions.
