Yesterday I Poured my new concrete porch and steps in exposed aggregate. Today my wife backed into the steps with my truck and the trailer hitch knocked a chunck off the second step. Does anyone have any ideas to fix the hole and make it look good? I would appreciate any advice as I am extremely distressed.

Did it come off in one chunk or lotsa little pieces?
Little pieces first - Do you have any chunks of the same concrete still around from the same pour so can you get the same aggregate and know the cement mix ratio? Hope it was not colored. You could put the extra chunk and the broken out parts on a hard surface and drive over them a few times (or smash with a big wood or brass mallet) to get a handfull of aggregate (Or is a really big 'hole'?) to patch with and expose the aggregate to match. Wire brush a cement grount onto the broken portion before adding the new mix.
If one big chunk, do the wire brush thingy with cememt grout and 'glue' the broken chunk back in.
It came off in a bunch of little chuncks. I think I will have to mix up a new batch of something, I don't know what. I have some gravel left that I seeded the pour with, but I wasn't sure if I could mix up some jet set or some kind of epoxy with gravel.
one day ?.. i'd epoxy the chunk back in.... then i'd mix up a slurry cement stucco and finish the whole tread
the original is not cured yet and the stucco , tread , and broken piece can all bondMike Smith Rhode Island : Design / Build / Repair / Restore
Thank you for the reply, I was looking for a miracle fix, but I will try anything before breaking out the jackhammer.

just mix up some more concrete and patch it. but do it quick while concrete still green.
Heck, I'd leave the big gaping hole alone and use it as a guilt/bargaining chip against the wife for as long as I could. Should buy you a few weeks of getting out of your own stupid mistakes.

Hi
Is this the same professor from a few years back who wanted to be my running mate when I go up for POTUS?
if so, welcome back
First thing I would do is take a deep breath, let it out very slowly, and then put my arm around her ( no - not around her neck...) and say, "Don't worry about it Dear. I can fix it"
Then I'd break out the epoxy and grumble for awhile 'till she found a way to make me feel better
