I’m cleaning up a basement. I want to vacuum up the concrete dust and then do something like paint it so there won’t be any more dusting. Are there other things I can do to make it where one can walk on it say “barefoot” without their feet getting dirty. Is there some sort of sealer you can put down. Do you pour more concrete (say 2″). Do you float a mortar layer?
Thanks

There are sealers. I think they go right on what you've got. I think the concrete can't be real new though. Others will reply shortly who know more about this. I think the concrete just has to be cleaned first, don't know if it has to be acid etched--if you look at a container of the sealer at a Home Center it'll probably tell you--maybe pressure wash first?
Humm, pressure wash. Good idea. I've been meaning to buy a pressure washer, I guess this is a good excuse. i can do my deck with it also. Sounds like you have you. The guy at Lowe's say's it's not the pressure it's the chemicals you use that gets the job done. Any comments. BTW, the basement slab is about 35 years old. Not sure how thick.
thanks for your input.I'll read up on sealers
One thing I thought of, if you use a pressure washer, unless there are water-based sealers (there probably are), let the floor get totally dry before you apply sealer (unless the directions say different).
OK, thanks a bunch.
You're welcome--hope it works well for you.
