We’re having our basement wall cut to put a window in and I’m not sure about the load factor. The rough opening will be 51″ long and 39″ deep. The top of the opening is about 5″ below the top of the foundation wall and I’m concerned that this might crack in the middle. The house was built in 1959. I can’t seem to find load factors for concrete openings so am I being overly cautious? Any advice and wisdom will be appreciated!!

by the time they overcut the opening, there won't be much strength left in the concrete remaining.. i'd cut the whole thing out and figure for wood or steel to pick up the old load..
infill with framing over the top of the window
Thanks for the advice. The 51" included the overcut, but I just talked with a contractor/carpenter friend and he said the same you did.
