I plan to pour(pump actually) a footing for an addition and the walls for an exterior stairway on the same day. The two pours are about twenty feet apart. The footing is six feet below grade and will require about one and a third cubic yards of concrete. The walls for the exterior stairway will require about four and two-thirds cubic yards of 3500 psi, 5 -7 percent air entrained concrete with cement that complies with ACI 318 (code requirements). If there are any code requirements for the concrete in the footing, I am not aware of them. Would it make sense to use the same 3500 psi, 5 -7 percent air entrained concrete with cement that complies with ACI 318 for both the exterior stairway and the addition footing? It would make the pour simpler. Thanks in advance for your advice.
