Need help with porch design. Attached is photo of house. Original open porch enclosed long time ago. Existing steps go right up to door, no landing, no cover.
Idea I have is to pour concrete landing/steps (want something durable/solid looking) and cover with wireglass awning pretty much all the way across front of house (no posts, maybe L-brackets on ends, wire stays). Glass so we can still get light into front windows.
Main concern is junction of concrete and siding. Even if landing one step down concrete will still be above top of foundation. What’s best way to deal with connection as far as flashing, insulating, expansion joint, etc.?
Also, any thoughts on design would also be appreciated. House is what it is, just trying to make best of situation.

If you can remove the 1x trim board below the siding ,then fasten an expansion joint to sheathing. You could use 1/2" styrofoam or a couple of pieces of regular expansion joint. The expansion joint will also give the height of the top step at the wall.
If removing the entire trim board is a problem, cut it. When replacing the board, leave a 1/4" gap between the step and the board. Do everything you can to seal the cut edge so water can't wick up. Flash under the trim board straight down , before installing expansion. Use the correct caulk in the joint between the concrete and trim board.
