Hello,
I am going to be building some new concrete steps in for my front entrance. They will be approx. 4′ wide and 3′ tall, with 3-4 steps. The details have not been worked out yet. What I need is any good resources showing how to form up these steps. Any books or websites with good clear info would be greatly appreciated. I have done some flat slab concrete work and have lots of experience with construction techniques. I just need a good place to start with these steps.
Thanks
Ryan

A good, inexpensive, book is "Construction Manual: Concrete & Formwork". ISBN 0-910460-03-5 (paperback). Put out by Craftsman Book Company and got me started when I built my concrete house.
Here's one of their drawings:

don't know if i can write how i do it, but here goes. i first form up the width with a 2x8,letting it extend out maybe 5' for four steps. then place a 2x8 across the end at 4'. then stack another 2x8 3' long on the side with another one across the end . another side one 2' etc. till you get the amount of steps you need. these measurements will give you 7 1/2 rise with a 12" tread. i always use screws to put it together, then when i'm done puring and finishing the top i pull the 2x8's off and use a stiff brush to finish the sides.usally after about 4 hours you can pull the forms.good luck larryhand me the chainsaw, i need to trim the casing just a hair.

Thank you for those pictures and sites. Thats exactly what I was looking for. It just makes it easier to picture what you have to build when you have a picture.
Thanks again

Don't forget to bevel back the bottom of the riser portion of the forms so you can get the blade of your trowel in there for a nice finish on the tread.
