Concrete tile in the shower? Has anyone put concrete 12×12’s in a shower? The sales woman at a ” to the trade only “shop in New York City said that it wouldn’t work in a shower area. That it couldn’t be sealed properly against all the soaps, etc. that a shower area is subject to. How can this be? How can it not be possible to properly seal these very attractive ceramic alternatives? Does anyone have some experience with these concrete tile? Any input would be much appreciated!

I constructed a polished portland cement shower for a cement loving client a few years back. The floor is light weight stained cement in a 19"x19" nickel plated metal grid. Very durable. Not for everyone, has a retro look.
But what did you seal the cement with? How often? And what does it look like today? These 12 x 12 's that they are selling are great looking and about the same price as most limestone and slate. I just want to know what they'll look like down the road. Does anybody know of an assn. of concrete products web site or similar?
Sealed with a lacquer cement sealer and looks today as it did new. Built in 2000.
Thanks! I'll get a sample and see if the laquer sealer imparts any significant color change.
