I recently finished my basement and am down to the finishing touches. The steel frame for the egress window has water beading up on the inside, due to the temperature difference from outside to inside.
My question is: Is there some sort of coating (ie. paint, epoxy, etc…) that I can put on the frame this spring before I trim it out w/ the jamb extensions? All trim is cherry, so I am trying to avoid future issues w/ mildew and rot on the jamb extensions.
I plan to prime and paint the frame in the spring and possibly sandwich 1/4″ foam insulation between the frame and the jamb extension boards. Will this be enough or are there other options for me?
Thanks,
Tanner

Tanner,
You may want to investigate ways to remove the moisture from the air in the basement. Eliminating a cold surface that shows condesation would only be addressing a symptom. If the moisture in the basement is controlled in a systematic way, the issues of mold, mildew, condensation, etc., will most like ly go away.
