Conditioned Crawl Under Four Season Room
Hello,
I’m adding onto our Michigan (cold climate) home a 14 x 14 “four season sunroom” which will be supported by a crawlspace. I plan to condition the crawlspace but am wondering about the effects of during the summertime when I plan to remove the window sash’s and only have the bug screens in place. I have reviewed the whitepaper from the Building Sciences site but my example isn’t really similar to one where the upper structure above the crawl were to be treated as a “conditioned space” during all seasons. I wonder if I will create a moisture problem in the conditioned space below a non-conditioned living quarters (outside air/moisture content consistent w/living space) during the summer months when the windows are open. This time of year is my only concern as in the spring/fall/winter months the spaces will follow the theme described by BSC, when the sashes will be in place. I wondered if any of you have any experience that would: a. change my strategy for a conditioned crawl; b. modify how I condition the space during the summer time when I remove the sash’s; c. provide other resources that may guide my learning.
Thanks for your insight.
