A friend of mine lives in a condo and the adjoining neighbor’s foundation is 4′ higher than his and has leaked water between the firewall creating mold and termite damage. The firewall consists of a sheet of 5/8″ drywall on each unit’s adjoining wall with a 6″ cavity between. Larry wishes to remove the drywall due to moisture and mold and replace it with cement board or something durable.
Does anybody have any suggestions for what material he should replace the 5/8″ drywall and how can it be attached in such a small cavity?
Thanks,
Clark

Look into dense shield. As far as attaching it, how about a magician?
Denshield is drywall.
You need to talk with the building inspector, cuz whatever material you use, it has to qualify as a firewall product.
