It’s been said confession is good for the soul.
I don’t know but I’ll try it.
Been pretty lucky over the years in that no major damage to the body via construction related injuries.
Work alone and work slow.
But the other day, a grand poopah.
Start of day after a previous ‘by twilight’ cleanup.
10 ft step ladder leaning against the wall.
Getting tired of the job and hard to jumpstart in the mornings.
“Well, gotta get to it” so I yank hard on the ladder to move to other side and as I do a hammer sitting on top rung falls off.
Hits me in the fool head, top of skull, nothing but a cloth hankiestyle skull cap on.
Several bumps so either hammer head or handle hit first and bounced around up there awhile before falling to the ground a couple yards away.
No blood drawn but sheer humility.
Nobody tell OSHA or they might fine me.
I feel I’ve been fined enough by the event.
Thought I’d tell youall to put the final stamp on it so I’ll be sure to not ever do it again.
be dead on or that quarter inch is going to haunt you

Work around pipe fitters and you'll learn quickly to tip any ladder off to the side b/4 picking it up.
Now say it to me as many times as it takes to never forget.

Okay--here's the big question:
Was it a TITANIUM hammer????

Well, no. I'm not acclimated to the big leagues to warrant a real hammer.
'sides that I decided to help save my elbows a bit by using shooters whenever practical.
So, being harder and lighter have other benefits by being easier on the head.work slow, work free, live long....huh?
Whoa! Lucky it was just a hammer, then. Imagine getting dinged by an 8-lb Senco....Dinosaur

Maybe it looks odd, but wearing a Hard-Hat still comes in handy sometimes.
The first 50 years in and around construction is the worst.
Been there, done that.
Ya, on a site.
This was kinda in my backyard and laying shingles.
Neighbors would get to wondering if I had a hard hat on and I don't need to fuel the fires. :o)work slow, work free, live long....huh?
I was doing a job and one of my guys had the step ladder and only used it for a couple minutes then left to do something else. Now i was in charge at the time so i had alot going on around me and did`nt think to look on top of the step ladder but rather grabbed it and started to walk away when ``Thump`` off came his hammer and hit me right between the eyes and cut me wide open . So i said i need to teach this guyhow important it is not to leave tools on the ladder so i let my face fill up with blood then i walked over to him an asked him if he remembered where he left his hammer,he was white as a ghost...... Yes i know i was just as stupid for not looking first but i needed to get my point across. to this day i still walk around with a scar on my forehead from his hammer.......take heed people what calvin said makes sense tip it to the side slowly then walk away unless of course you would like a scar like mine that is.......lol
Doode, welcome to the club...jeeze, I've always thought it was part of the job, now Cal sez there's an alternative<G> I just hope I can remember on Monday LOL Don't worry, we can fix that later!
dang, I hate it when that happens...."there's enough for everyone"
