I will be installing a Heath Zenith motion security light onto the exterior of our 95 yr old red brick home. Existing light had no ground wire, so electrician ran new wire from panel to inside of wall (he will come back to actually hot-up to panel). I had to do the pain in the neck fishing of the wire thru to the brick mounted box. The original box fixed into the brick is a square receptacle box, not octagonal. When I bought the fixture the electrical store sold me a “weatherproof outlet box” to attach over the old box. I’m thinking this is going to look butt ugly on the wall. Is this my only choice?

If th lamp holdr base screws don't match up (axis wise) he may be able to lay on a pancake box over the old box, by drilling mating holes.

You should be able to find a rectangular weatherproof cover with the 3 threaded holes that you would need to convert the Heath-Zenith assembly. I am assuming that the Heath unit is the type that has the lampholders and sensor assembly threaded into 3 holes of a round cover. A quick search reveals this:
