Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I’m a first-time DYI plumber & and recently added pvc plumbing to our barn. When I tested the new lines, I found slow dripping at all connections made with threaded pvc (male end) to threaded brass stop valves (female end). I had wrapped the threads with Teflon tape. After noting the leaks, I removed the fittings and added a thicker wrap with the Teflon tape, but it seemed to bunch up & tear apart (..yes, I wrapped in the right direction). Would putty work better?
Thanks in advance.

I use pipe dope.
(If these are shut off vales rather than sill cocks, I would use PVC vlaves and glue them in place.
Yea, I switched to pipe dope for threaded PVC also. 'works much better.
