I have continuous aluminum ridge vent. Suddenly a spot appears on my ceiling, midway between the ridge and outside wall, water appears to run down a rafter and drip off. I am considering ripping off the aluminum vent and replacing it with Cor-A-Vent ridge vent. Is it as reliable as the advertising says? I don’t want to do the work and retain the problem.

That aluminum ridge vent is notorious for leaking where the 10' sections are joined together and also is such a light gauge that if stepped on it can be compromised. Coravent, Cobra vent, and OC Ventsure are my favorite ridge vents, not necessarily in that order. All work well and should not leak if installed properly.

Sometimes, when I lie in bed at night and look up at the stars, I think to myself, "Man! I really need to fix that roof."
I agree, but I like them i the order "seeyou" stated.
If you have coniferous trees that will shed needles onto the roof, be careful about using Cor-A-Vent. It clogs easily, as do all ridge vents I've tried.
