An electric cooktop is on order and it will go into our island in the kitchen.
Is it normal practice to have the power wire from the breaker go to a junction box in the island, then have the condiut from the cooktop connect to this junction box? The original installation when the house was built had the power wire from the breaker box wire go straight to the cooktop, with no junction box inside the island!!

Keeping HVAC systems within the conditioned enclosure can be tough without a basement; one option is to use plenum trusses for the roof, which offer a space for equipment and ductwork.

My own stuff all have junction boxes.
Much easier for repair or replacement 15 years from now.
Here inspectors just say no to exposed romex inside accessible parts of cabinets,(though I've seen it a bunch).
So romex to jbox on bottom or side, flex metal jacketed (BX?) jbox to device.
Everything will be okay in the end. If it's not okay, it's not the end.
