Was in the area of a Western Tool Supply, so I slipped in to roam the isles, long ribbons of drool trailing behind me like spider webs. Picked out a few boring replacement consumables, when I stumbled upon a Titanium nail extractor by Stiletto, the same company that makes those mighty sweet (and light) hammers.
Well, once I had that sucker in my hand, I was as good as 80 bucks in the hole. Almost afraid to use it on nails, it is just that nice. It’s more a work of warm, familiar art than a tool – calling it a tool almost seems crass.
It rests comfortably on my desk, and every so often I pick it up, admire the glinting shine as the light kicks off the sharp, polished ends. It’s warm in the hand and begs to be driven, not unlike some cars I’ve owned, or some women I’ve never known.
I think I’ll keep it. Maybe, some day, I might even use it as it was intended.

Dude! I have felt the same way about many tools. Most recently, a $200 Lie Nielsen rabbit plane. I had to take it of the shelf and use it. It felt like, like, well you know........
Wow! That is one fine tool, brother. I don't blame you one bit, even if it just rests on top of the daily mail for-ever.
As far as the price is concerned...that's dirt cheap...for a work of art. I know many fanatics of other hobbies who spend far more on cool stuff with a lot less justification.
Enjoy it...you've earned it.
