If I remember right you use the extra stiff sanding pads like you buy for cleaning up welding splatter, and mount them back to back or something like that. Having watched a grinder and coarse paper zip right through my assistant's insulated Carhartts I'm too chicken. :-)

I've been doing that since I read about it here, or maybe it was even before Prospero.
I use a 60 grit disc, but I don't see any need to use two discs back to back.
Just tell them to try it. There's virtually no learning curve here. Simple as dirt. Little dusty, though.
