If it didn't leak in the first five minutes, I would have closed that puppy up. Two weeks, no leaks, your home free.

Ditto to Dave's reply.

Never underestimate the value of a sharp pencil or good light.
I'd agree with the others. So long as the pipe isn't subject to stress that might break a poor solder joint, it should last decades at least.
I don't know. With your luck lately...
thats why it open, that and Im lazy. had to go buy the smelly yellow board that replace green board any way. Its been rainy everyday too
Wait at least a year depending on what zodiac sign you were born under.

I can solder fine, this was just diffucult because it was in the wall. and kept moving, I needed three hand without catching the wall on fire.
That's why I keep a fire proof sheet in my plumbing box.
An 8"x10" sheet you can place anywhere to protect a surface from the torch.
About $10 IIRC, supply house, depot, or lowes all have them....buic
Of course, just the sheet is fireproof, not whatever's behind it. ;)(I was working on the upstairs bath, redoing the shower riser. Prepared to solder the drop-ear ell to the riser pipe when I glanced upward a couple of inches and noticed I'd jammed newspaper into the wall cavity to stop drafts through the opening above the drop ceiling (another story). Thought better of that and removed the newspaper, replacing it with a piece of tin, while doing the soldering.)
So convenient a thing it is to be a reasonable Creature, since it enables one to find or make a Reason for everything one has a mind to do. --Benjamin Franklin
True, but you could put a piece of paper behind it and it won't ignite, it'll barely get warm...buic
