Cordless drill compatible w/batteries?
My Quantum Pro 18v drill “walked off” from a job site, but I still have the charger and 2 good batteries. I would love to find a cordless drill compatible with the batteries I have, to save $$.
I’ve been searching the web, but apparently the QP was recalled due to a fire hazard, so I won’t be finding one unless I’m lucky. I’ve checked ebay, factory rebuilds, etc and can only find the 14v; i need 18v.
I sent an email to B&D, the maker of the QP, if they have any drills compatible with the batteries. I don’t know about such things and wanted to ask you guys– would this be a universal fit with any 18v cordless drill, or if not, do you know offhand of other models that would be compatible?
Thanks-
Mary

I've run 9.6V drills on 12 V and 14.2, works great, quit using when too hot to hold.<G> Burnt out a couple of old 9.6 Makitas on 18 V though, run really fast too.
You can also open the pack and disconnect a few cells, etc. possibilities are endless. However, if you had to ask, the proceedure is straight forward but probably not something you would feel comfortable with, aka not plug and play, etc.
I'm a Jill-of-all-trades, but I don't mess with electricity :-)
If you find another 18V drill that looks similar and into which the batteries seem to fit OK, it'll very likely work fine. Odds are good, in fact, that the two units came off the same assembly line. I used to buy Ryobi batteries for my old Craftsman drill, eg.
Awesome! Thanks!
Use this chart to cross reference what will work.

any recommendations on the best 18v drill on the market?
The one you see advertised just after you buy a new one.

So true, it's not even funny!
