Hey,
Looking to buy a cordless finish nailer, and am considering the DeWalt. I am an ex-contractor working on my own house and a vacation house so will only being using it periodically. Anybody have any experience with the DeWalt, and generally what are the pros and cons of angle vrs. straight?

If it were me I'd go for the angled 16-gauge Paslode.
Of course, several companies are offering the Porter-Cable two gun & compressor kit for less than the price of the Paslode, so I'd consider that too.

I bought the Dewalt a couple of months ago and really like it just done a couple of small jobs and find it quite handy and it fits in with the rest of my Dewalt collection.

I have two Paslode 16 ga angled finish nailers. I'm happy with them. I looked at the Dewalts and they are HEAVY. Other than the weight though, they seem fine.
I'm not sure how well the Dewalts are selling, seems to me that i've seen a few on "special" at depot.
If you end up with the Dewalt, let us know how you like it.
Not that long ago, HD was clearing out a combo pack that included a XRP hammer drill as well as one of the cordless finish nailers and a bag.Normally priced at $499, the clearance price was $349. (Yes, same price as the nailer itself in the other aisle.) Great deal, amazing deal in fact - worth looking for.JT
IF you already own Dewalt cordless tools AND the chargers are redundant, then there might be some sense in getting another Dewalt product.
On the other hand, I would worry about that kind of tool, and Dewalt.
Paslode has a very well established reputation in this area.
All things considered, that would be my choice.Jake Gulick

Thats the deal I got plus another 10% off and I gave my BIL the hammerdrill for xmas as I already had 2.The combo came with 2 batteries also so I gave my BIL an older battery and kept the 2 new ones.I now own the Dewalt:
vac/jig saw /recip/2 circle saws/2 hammer drills/nail gun/radio/2 flashlights/impact driver/3 chargers and 6 batteries/2 toolbags and a 4 tool case
Next on my list to add will be the grinder and the rotary cutout tool.
I have been very happy with the dewalt system and eventually plan to own the whole collection.

I'm using Bosch the 18volt kit. Very happy with it. The cordless 3 1/4 planer is especially handy for whipping through tasks which might otherwise require a belt sander or even a tablesaw. The hammerdrill's a beast, but then they say it'll last even if you drop it 50' to concrete - I believe it. These days, I use my Makita impact more than my drill anyways.Bosch has just made a 18 volt version of their rotozip as well, so that's the next purchase for me.JT
I have the corded version of that planer and really like it.Dewalt has a large flourescent flashlight and a metal nibbler that looks cool in 18 volt.As I am on strict financial budget these "I wanta's" are going to have to be some extreme clearance or good paying job paybacks.

I have the Paslode 16 ga. and I like it, but something to consider-especially if you are only going to use it occasionally-is the price of the fuel cells, which have an expiration date on them. I can't imagine it's like milk and will go bad past that date, but what do I know.
Even with the cost of the fuel cells, I would still get it again over the DeWalt. Sucker is loud though.
