We are putting a 14X16 addition onto our Northern Wisconsin home and are thinking of putting in a corn burning stove. Any words of wisdom on these stoves? Thanks!

A corn/biomass burning stove in a room that size will have no problem heating it up. You will be able to get it so hot that you will have to open a window to cool things off. You may want to look into burning wood pellets in the stove also. Unless you can buy the corn in bulk.(100 bushels+ not in bags the cost of burning corn can be higher.) I have a stove corn prices locally are about 2.15/ bushel. My brother in law farms 7000+ acres and stores 800,000 bushels of corn to sell when market prices are up during the summer.
Even with my family connection it still doesn't pay to burn corn in my stove. A 50# bag of cleaned corn is selling for $6.00+ here, you can buy it for less but you have to have a storage system to keep the corn. If you buy it at harvest time the corn will be too "wet", it will have to be dried before you store it or it WILL go sour and be useless.
