I have a moisture problem with my stucco house that I could use some help with. The house was built around 1920 and has a traditional stucco exterior (concrete on lath). I have been repairing the stucco while adding some windows and doors to the house and in preparation for painting the house. During the repair I noticed areas of water damage to the sheathing and framing. This appeared to be old moisture problems, but when I pulled a section of stucco off the house on the north side (the gable end) the wood lath that the stucco is applied to was still very wet.
The stucco is applied to either wood lath or metal lath (presumably, depending on when the stuccco was put on or repaired).
Any advise for getting rid of the moisture in the wall(s) and keeping it from getting trapped there in the future would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Mark J.
