In general, what is the percentage of the cost of the exterior (say, 6″) walls to the whole cost of the house. Complicated question, I know, but I saw this somewhere, and I can’t seem to find it again.
I am looking at building with a panelized system, and I would like to relate quotes I get with conventional numbers.

I have heard only 15% of a house's cost is in the walls..
But you probably want to take into account insulation etc..
To make a comparison, you'll probably have to take off the wall materails and figure your labor costs.
Houses are so widely different there's no way to make a comparison with percentages. That would be like asking how much tires on a car cost as a percentage of the car cost. You might use the same tire on a Chevy that you'd use on a Porche.

When I worked for a builder a few years ago, we tried to do what you're doing. I think we came up with $3,400 stick built and $3,500 panelized. There just wasn't much difference.
