I want to get some idea of the cost to have a plumber install pipes fora second floor toilet and sink.
I live in western Mass. I have a first floor bath centered on the west wall of the house with rooms on either side. I took off the paneling in the next room exposing H&C water pipes and main vent stack to second floor. The second floor is currently an open finished space with the gable roof line running down on the sides to 18″ knee walls. The vent stack from the first floor comes up, off center. under the second floor and runs out to the north knee wall where it goes out the roof.
I’ve never hired a plumber before and would like a ball park guestimate of what I might expect to pay to have the plumbing roughed in for a sink and toilet.
Thanks

$14,374.88
I know it is hard to guess, given possible variables.
I was only hoping for a realistic range.I said western Mass not Boston.
Come on BB, a rough guess would be $14,000! That $14,374.88 is pretty specific, looks like you actually thought this through a bit.
Doug
so you are saying you wont do it for $14,374.88. Whats the problem then.
Doug, knowing bb that $14,374.88 is the rough estimate.
His final bill will come to exactly $14,000.00 as you said.
LOL
Southern NY gettin between $1500 and $2000 per fixture.
$1000 a pop for a friend.
Lemme get this straight....

Holy bagels and lox Batman!
Prices are local, they may vary up to 50%, you have to check the prices where you live. Sorry.
>> I want to get some idea of the cost to have a plumber install pipes fora second floor toilet and sink. << That would be called a rough-in - assuming fixtures are to be installed by someone else.
My guesstimate is $1000. That should cover it. That doesn't include any sheet rock, etc, repair. It's highly dependant on labor rates in your area though. You might do better on an hourly service call rather than a bid, the difference being that you don't get the price on the hourly work until it is done.
If your pipes are not plastic, it could be more. (both DWV and supply).
BTW - is the main waste line in your house sized to handle an extra WC (water closet or toilet)? For new construction the rule of thumb is 3" for 3 toilets, 4" for four. Guessing it is the same in your area and same for remodeling?

So, the idea would be to convert this stack to a "wet vent"? I don't know enough about plumbing to know the rules for wet vents... Is this stack a 3" pipe (which would be required for a toilet). Many (most?) newer houses don't have 3" vent stacks. What is the proximinity of this stack to the desired location of the new toilet? Location of sink? Are the new toilet and sink to be right next to each other? Would the idea be to tear up the 2nd floor finished flooring to do the install or the ceiling below? Just some thought stimulating Qs that don't necessarily need to be answered.

What Jay said.
I'm at 13-1500 per fixture installed.
Doesn't include fixtures though.
