Don’t laugh!!! We have a relatively new pontoon deck boat with a textured white vinyl floor covering over marine plywood. Marine ply is expensive and this is in good condition. The vinyl is a chore too keep clean looking and we wish it were a taupe color. Does anyone have any suggestions for removing the white vinyl—while saving the plywood or covering over the white vinyl with new. What about carpet over the white?

Look in the phone book for a Duradek installer. They have a good assortment of vynle colors and different textures. Most likely they can go over your existing membrane with very little prep work.
Good luck.
I would'nt do carpet if you have Gulls.
Great idea a few years back. Friend and I decided to restore a swimming platform up at his lake home. sandblaster and painted the metal and pontoons and then covered the platform with outdoor carpet. The envy of the whole lake.
The next weekend when we came up, could not believe it but the gulls also liked it. The whole week they covered it with sh_t. We were able to hose it off, but we couldn't get the little bones out of the carpet.... Might be better with Vinyl.
alot of people around here are using the truck bedliner sprayon material on pontoon decks & inside of boats... can have it done or buy the material at the auto pait supply store & use a texture hopper gun to apply...lots of colors

Ever thought of dye? A lot less work than replacing the whole thing.
