I am designing a pergola and I want to cover a small area so I can use it when it rains. I would like some suggestions for approved materials, preferably a material that won’t block the light.

When we built ours, we covered it with shade cloth. For winter, we mount polycarbonate corrigated panels. Pull them off and store them during the summer (no rain here during the summer) and put them back on when the rains come back.
Works for us.
(Also, keeps our patio plants from freezing.)
