Covering Basement Ceiling With Plastic
Hi All — I have an unfinished basement that I am converting to a woodworking shop. In order to ensure that dust doesn’t find its way through the floorboards and up into the family room above the basement, I am planning to cover the unfinished ceiling with plastic sheeting. I need to determine best way to affix the plastic sheeting to both the exposed wood beam and concrete sidewalls. i am most concerned about (i) not ripping the plastic and (ii) easy of installation. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thx. tony.

I'm not sure what I'm talking about, but maybe you should use a house wrap rather than visqueen. Seems to me that the visqueen could trap moisture and cause rot, whereas the house wrap would pass vapor ... maybe?
Plus the white housewrap would reflect light making it seem brighter in the basement.
I would stretch the material, staple it up, and then add screen door trim to each joist. Get a buddy to help.
I'm sorry, I thought you wanted it done the right way.
