I have two cultured marble counter tops that are in good shape but ugly. I would like to cover them with ceramic tile or plastic laminate what is the best procedure?

I've found this procedure quite cost-effective:
1. Turn off the water supply and disconnect plumbing.
2. Wear safey glasses.
3. Grab a 20lb sledge hammer by the handle and raise it above your head.
4. Bring the hammer down squarely and forcefully in the middle of each cultured marble counter.
5. Haul counters to dumpster.
6. Provide, fabricate and install new solid surface countertops with integral bowls and backsplashes.
sounds good to me
or just buy a new top......mebee $35.00 or so.
let the next guy have a smashing good time.
Are the sinks integral with the top? How would you deal with that?
Probably way cheaper and faster to just replace the top. If the budget is tight, replace it with a nice baltic birch plywood top and a coat of varnish, then go back later and add tile.
