My house was built a little less than a year ago and the basement floor has some hairline cracks in it. Most cracks look like pencil marks and some are a little wider – but none are wider than 1/16th of an inch. Some people tell me it’s nothing to worry about and others indicate it’s a problem. The basement is very dry and the foundation walls show no signs of shifting or cracking. So, my question is – do I need to worry? What should I be looking for and if I need to repair the cracks, what’s the best approach? The width of the cracks are so narrow that cement seems like a poor choice – maybe caulking should be used?
Thanks for the help.

Slab within foundation walls as typical?
Probably only shrinkage cracks. Get a grout mix if it bothers you - or there are hydrocrete foundation patching mixeds sold that you can pack and trowel smooth.
