Craftsman clipped head framing nailer
Gentleman
I recently inheirited a used Craftsman framing nailer. No manual or instructions with the gun. It is the clipped head framing nailer. I need to know if this gun acceptes wire coalated nails or paper strip nails. If anyone has on of these and can tell me the brand, angle (21, 30 degree etc.) and size that shoots the best out of this gun I would appreciate it.
Thanks
Matt

go back to sears with the model number and request a manual...
you may be able to do that on line...at least read the page for the information you want...
take you and the gun to the tool department at sears and ak the tool guy there what you need to get into business..
you'll have to do this as you didn't give us the model number.., or age....

WOW!!! What a Ride!
They have manuals and parts lists online. google it and/or the model #. Or look in the phone book and see if there is a local tool repair facility. Not much chance of the people in the store knowing the answer. At least, not here in Milwaukee.

I know this and there may be a like model on the shelf...

The kid at the local Sears was no help. I guess the next step is to use google or to call sears and get a manual. Thanks for the help gents

If they had the framing nailers made by the same Co as the finish nailers, they use Senco nails. I just got a smokin' deal on one and when I went to look at nails, they had a listing on the package of the angle, brand, etc. Fortunately for me, I already have more than half of a big box of 2" and 1-1/2" from when I borrowed a Senco to do some previous work.

Matt
how can you not care and feed your new nailer like you should without the manual...
I get it - yur another one that doesn't read THE MANUAL and latter when you have a problem it's the crapola tool's fault and not yours...
pass the buck kinda guy... let somebody else do the deed and you ride the coat tails...
RTFM...

Wow, I didnt know you had a passion for tools like you do. I do read the manuals for all of my tools. Care, maintenence, etc. But when one is given to you without the manual and you have a job to start in two days I dont think that Sears is going to get me one that fast Hence the post on here to see if consciensious contractors such as yourself have one of these nailers and can steer me in the right direction until a manual can be had. But thanks for the post.
passion doesn't cover it...
they are the bread and butter...
besides I enjoy my addiction...

did someone say "pass the buck"?
I didn't do it....the buck does NOT stop here.
I for one rarely read my manuals.
I am hard on my tools and use them till they break.
I don't cry or moan about the manufacturers weaknesses, just note them when I purchase my next tool.
I look for the quality that is in the tool in my hand and not in the manufacturers reputation.
By the time my tools break the next generation has come out and the upgrades are usually significant enough to out weigh the repair costs.
I usually give my broke tools to my guys on the crew with the explaination that it may be fixable but it has lived a hard life so be prepared for other things to go wrong.
ANDYSZ2I MAY DISAGREE WITH WHAT YOUR SAYING BUT I WILL DEFEND TO THE DEATH YOUR RIGHT TO SAY IT.
