I’ve been working on a kitchen remodel that also involved adding a pantry and laundry room into the existing garage. The floor was built up with 2×10’s to meet the kitchen’s floor height, so we’ve ended up with a very short crawl. The garage(which is now a pottery studio) has insulated walls and ceilings, but it’s not conditioned.
The problem:
My framing inspector wants me to figure out either how to vent the crawl(not really an option), or seal it, since he is considering it a true crawlspace. I generally think about these things way in advance, but I let this one go. I figured since it was within a dry, insulated space over a slab that I wouldn’t have to do anything but insulate the floor and new walls.
I can foam the walls and open a duct, but I only have about 10″ to move around in there, and here in NC, we’re required to have a 3″ termite gap at the band to brick connection and above the slab, which means I’m running a 4″ piece of foam. Ridiculous.
I’ve worked with this inspector for years and he’s a very reasonable guy, so he will accept the simplest, most reasonable solution.

Thanks for the flood of responses!
I worked it out, and he's going to let me install foundation vents in the studio/laundry wall and open up the foundation to the existing crawl. There won't ever be a car in there, so there's no risk of carbon monoxide reaching the living space.
I am open to other suggestions if anyone finds this interesting...although that's not looking promising at this point.
Next time I'm posting girls in bikini's with my stupid questions. That should draw some attention.
It has really only been a couple of hours since you posted. Most of the people populating this site are working tradesmen. They often do most of their posting in the evening, so I would humbly suggest that you edit the second posting to remove the sarcasm.
Whazzat? Sumbuddy say sumptin?

I was sitting at my computer waiting for someone to post something but fell asleep.
Oh, well.
I was thinking the same thing, but noticed that folks were posting all day. It's a joke, Man. Don't take me that seriously.
Will you post the bikini's anyways?
As soon as I am able to be around girls with bikini's, I will deliver. It might be a while though.
Maybe some nice pics of tools!
I can manage that.
How about a picture of a girl in a Bikini holding your favorite tool.
