I’ve been asked by a customer if i could re-finish the interior of his walk in cooler with the hopes of also making it more efficiant. The existing material is tongue and groove planking.i was thinking of first applying a layer of 6 mill plastic then a layer of 1″ foam then a 1″ air space followed by a layer of 3/4″ plwood to which i would apply the finish material.Does anyone have any tips, ideas, or suggestions that would improve on my idea ?

yes.. skip the 1 inch air space.. what's it for ?
put another 1 inch of foam in it's place or eliminate it..
*Mike, the RMax foam board I'm using states that a 3/4" air gap behind the foam board has an R-factor of 2.77 "per ASHRAE." I used 1" foil-faced board to make rafter vents on my upstairs sloped ceilings and left a 1" gap next to the roof decking, but only to provide for a vent channel.I'd agree that more insulation is better. How much more efficient does he want it? 4" is 4x better than 1".
