A friend is putting up crown moulding in his house. He wants to end it at an outside corner.
Is there a standard (or more than one) way of doing that?
Thanks,

Return to wall, end cap, block.
Some with return the moulding to the wall just short of the outside corner. Others will wrap the crown just past the outside corner, returning to the other wall. Whatever looks the coolest for you buddy.

I like making a mitered return to finish the end. The crown returns on itself and dies into the wall.
I keep the end about 1/8" to 1/4" from the outside corner.

I like 22.5º returns, rather than the 45º returns that die right into the wall.
To make a 22.5º return, cut two 22.5 angles, one on the long piece and one on the return, and then a 45 on the other side of the return.
Here's a site showing 22.5º returns on base. They work the same on crown. http://www.garymkatz.com/TrimTechniques/22wallreturns.htm

"so it goes"
That is different.......I like the subtle change.
