I’d like to build a retaining wall using block + cultured stone facing but reading the cultured stone installation instructions – it states cultured stone has be kept 4″ from soil. This implies to me that it doesn’t take well to constant moisture exposure. I was planning on building a waterscape that poured over part of the wall.
Just looking for some real world confirmation – does this mean I can’t use cultured stone? Does it really behave badly if it sits in ground contact?
MERC.

That's odd, I seem to remember the Cultured Stone (OwensCorning, IIRC) web site showing all sorts of exterior applications, including a mock stone bridge at a golf course. But that's years back.
I seem to remember that a waterproof sealer is recommended to cultured stone used in and around water features--I'm thinking I saw that in some Coronado liturature, but could be wrong.
