I’m building a cupola and would like suggestions/advice on how best to install it on the roof. The cupolas I’ve seen in my area look like they’ve been placed on top of the existing shingles without any type of flashing. Or should shingles and ridge be removed, cupola installed and use step flashing with the comp shingles? I was hoping to build the whole thing on the ground and then lift it to the roof which could make the step flashing/shingle scenario interesting.
Thanks for the help.
