Hi!, I’m a gardener, not a homebuilder, but I’m hoping y’all will be willing to help me out…
I just had my living room floor redone. Nice beige/tan ceramic tile at the entry and the room is Bruce spice solid oak planks, 3/4 inch thick. I wanted the ceramic tile to be cut in a curve instead of straight lines. It came out beautifully, until I saw the thick black rubber transition piece the contractor put in.
It’s ugly, 1+1/2 inch wide, very industrial looking. I told him it had to be changed. Surely someone makes something flexible of that width in a tan, beige, light brown, taupe, something besides black or white!
Can anyone here suggest something and where I might find it?
Thanks!

I assume you're talking about a slightly domed rubber-like strip that fits over the joint between tile and whatever?
The time to discuss the appearance of this is, of course, before the work is done -- very often it's possible to avoid the strip entirely with a little more effort, but it's probably a bit late for that.
I have seen the strips in other "neutral" colors, but I don't know what the color options are.
But here's one web site (many more):

Thanks, Dan. I think the problem is the width he requires. 3/4 inch each way. That site didn't show anything that wide. Not sure why it needs to be. Yes, it should have been discussed beforehand but when I said, "I want a subtle flow of color from the ceramic to the wood", I thought he understood. Thanks for your help._^..^_ Kitty, neIN, Z5
He needs 3/4" each way because the joint is that poorly fitted.
As I stood before the gates I realized that I never want to be as certain about anything as were the people who built this place. --Rabbi Sheila Peltz, on her visit to Auschwitz
If that's the reason, then I thinks it's not that it is poorly fitted, but rather overkill. I looked it over before he installed the transition, and it was spot-on. It looked to be no more than a 1/4 inch, perhaps less, gap between the materials throughout the curve. Or did you mean a difference in heights? Not that either. The subflooring he added to raise the tile to the height of the wood also felt right on. He tends to be quite the perfectionist and does great work. No complaints except the color._^..^_ Kitty, neIN, Z5

Some of the items on that site seem as if they might be what I need. I can only make out a rough idea from the info provided, but it looks like it's heading in the right direction. Thanks!_^..^_ Kitty, neIN, Z5
If there is an even space between the two materials and they are at they same elevation, why can't it be caulked with a caulk to match the tile grout? They make matching, sanded caulk. It will look just like a grout joint.
Unless the cut edges of the tile are rough where they were cut at the curve.

Thanks. I'll check that out with him. You guys are great!!
