I am remodeling a kitchen which has lots of curved plaster wall/ceiling things going on, and the look of a standard hood vent just doesn’t work. I want to create an amorphic hood out of plaster with a sheet metal underside, and insert a fan/light unit into it, without spending a fortune ($1100-1500) for a viking (the cooktop make) hood and gutting it for the fan. Has anyone had experience w/ custom hoods, or suggestions for a source for the guts without the hood itself? Because it is a six burner unit, I think it needs to be heftier than a $200 average hood unit would provide
