I’m about to install the wood door in the picture below. Any ideas on how to cusomize it and make it look a little more unique/vintage. I’m open to finishing ideas (staining, painting, distressing…) or even hardware I could add to make it look old (hinges, web sites with good prices on old hardware…).
Check out the other pics to get a feel for the overall look of the house. Any ideas would be appreciated

Will this be your entry door or an interior door?
Did this to a door that went out to a good looking mudroom. Cut out the two lower panels of the old door (yearly cracks opened in the panels) and replaced them with two Tempered or Safety glass panels. Don't know that it made it look old, but it let in more light and was not usual.

This is an exterior door. Where's the pic on your website? Trying to go for something just cosmetic on this door. Time and budget are a little tight, as usual

Knock down all the hard corners, nothing screams new like crisp edges. Pocket mortise lockset and reclamied hinges will help as well.
Be careful with that particular door and a full mortise lockset. Those stiles are about 4" wide--maybe 4.25" at best. Maybe you're lucky and the lock rail will be in the right place, so no worries. Most modern locksets require a 4.5" deep pocket. I like the reclaimed hinges idea--maybe even half surface to show them off. And how about a rim lock for a really old school look. There are a few good ones out there.

Prime it off white or yellow oil base. Give it one coat of flat pumpkin orange, smooth with 220, then coat with dark green milk paint, sand lightly with 320. Now sand it with 150 in areas that would typically get wear, (around knob & lock, base etc), let the orange and some of the white show. Distress corners & edges with files & rasps. Coat entire thing with clear shellac (Frenchy paid me to say that), 320 again, then take black shoe polish and wipe it into the corners, nooks & crannies, let dry. Wax entire thing with butchers wax & buff.
Take it to Antiques Roadshow, lie about it & get them to buy it for a bundle.
Call a local door company and have them come and install the same style door. How ever you finish it is up to you.

beings it's an exterior door I'd get the proper oldy looking hardware.......then figure what stain to use..probably dark walnut since the windows are dark.
Then after it's all done and dry I'd take artist oil paint mix up some burnt umber/ultramarine blue till I like the look and smudge it on sparingly..........trying to fill a bit of grain (if there is any).........wipe with a rag till you get the look you want.
