I have done a lot of built-in work lately in currently occupied homes that are real wood (i.e. not painted) and have to tie into existing painted baseboards and crown. Does anyone have any good techniques to cut base/crown while its up on the wall? Most of the time I am able to get it with a utility knife and a chisel – but this technique takes forever.
I know I can remove the moulding, cut and re-install but that risks breaking it at finger joints and ultimately makes more work.
