Hey guys,
Putting an addition on a home and the roofline runs out perpendicular from the exisitng roof and looking for a way to speed up the process for cutting the 2 x 8s that will make the new roofline.
Anyone have any tricks for determining the bevelangle for where the end of the new joist meets the slope of the existing roof? Its a 4/12 pitch so its a long angle and a very slight bevel.
Any tricks?
Thanks

don't you mean rafter?
joist...rafter...we're in Florida...everyone calls them the same thing as if its not a truss, no one here knows the difference ;)
The angle is 71 1/2 deg. Thats the complement of a 4/12 pitch.
4/12 = 18 1/2 deg. 90 deg.-18 1/2 deg =71 1/2 deg.
The bevel will be 18 1/2 deg. the same as 4/12 pitch on the roof it will rest on.
Saw,
I will give that a try and see how it works. Thanks
