Greetings,
I have to cut two 4’w x 3′ tall window openings in an existing block wall. Wall is 8″ wide block with 1/2″ stucco on one side, cells are grouted & also have some rebar.
I have tried a 14″ concrete saw from each side, with no success. It has been REALLY slow, noisy, and dusty, and my arms are so sore I’m begining to resemble Popeye.
Should I call a concrete cutting outfit with special jig and equipment?
Should I rent a particular special tool?
Also. what size, type of lintel would you use & how would you set it?
Thanks for any thoughts, Todd
Happy new year

Call in a pro. For less than $250 they can have the job finished in a couple of hours.
Todd,
I have cut openings and installed windows in several rock veneer walls in the past; pics of the last installation are attached. The rock has always been limestone.
I finally settled on a Milwaukee Sawzall for the work, using a 10" or 12" carbide blade. Depending on the opening size, it requires two to three blades.
I don't know how the hardness of your block compares with limestone, but it may be worth a try. The work is fairly slow; I recall that this particular opening took and hour and a half.

Try one of these. http://www.jimslimstools.com/detail.aspx?ID=1728 Just kidding but I've met one mason who bought one and said for him it's good because he cuts in plenty of windows and door openings.
