Ok, Were cutting concrete. So instead of hiring someone we decide to take it on! We rent a big walk behind wet saw(self propelled). It seemed to take forever. we had to make several passes. Saturday we cut about 60 linear ft in 6 hours. Is this how long it takes? were we doing somthing wrong. The slab is 4.5 thick with wire. Was the blade bad? ( the rental place said no. ”you have to take 1” passes at a time!” Does it just take this long? Any advice people?????
Thanks Lou C

Hey Guy: You should have set the blade depth to cut the full thickness of the slab. It is not good for the blade to recut. Hope this helps. Sixty feet should only take about an hour even with a standard walk saw that is not self propelled. Good luck on your project.
Make sure that thing is running plenty of water, lest your cuts take too long AND you end up buying a warped blade.
I don't know how long it should take, as I've never used one. Just relaying what I learned at my local tool rental.

Why are you cutting it?
You going to remove it or is this a new slab that you are cutting to provide controlled breaks in?
Last time I had that much trouble The diamond blade had lost all of its diamonds.
You might want to double check Blade and water feed. We just cut @ 75 ln.ft.
in 1.5 hours. Wasted time Fooling with a balky water system -Set cutting depth to just a tad more than thickness of concrete and go Smooth and steady.
