Any cut you make is going to have to be trimmed around the window, so I say have at it with a dull framing blade and get some aluminum corner molding.

I just checked out a bath renovation job where I'm gonna have to cut a notch [8"x 30"] in a one piece moulded fiberglass tub surround for a window that extends below the top of the surround. Anything I should know before I cut? or just fire up the Homelite? Or can I do this at all? Thanks.
*Don't know much about this but I have seen the plumbers put tape on the surface before cutting a hole for the faucet rough-in.
*I think you'd want to do this with a rotary blade, like a non-toothed grinding blade. I'm thinking the reciprocal motion of a sawzall would probably chip the fiberglas.
*OK!! - Another fine use for the venerable Roto-Zip! Get the right bit for cutting fiberglass and carefully have at it.

*I did this once and just used a utility knife with a sharp blade. But that edge was getting covered by trim. Of course, then I measured to cut out the second notch and realized that it overlapped one of the molded in shelves. Thinking of no way to make that look good I ate the $125 dollars and got a three piece that was flat where I needed it to be.For sale cheap, a one piece tub/shower surround with a chunk cut out of it. :-)Rich Beckman
*ALLAOUND is right. The Rotozip does a great job. Haven't tried it on a beer can yet though.
*you might want to drill a hole at the corners and cut to that.(similar to what's done w/laminate. this keeps the corner from cracking as you move pc around and apply stress to the sheet. best of luck to ya.
